By the way, admins, I've created an issue for this author's template for the same URL (Issue#1). His template simply removes this thing that he marked. So an essential content is missing in his template.
Besides, using this thing as the subtitle (even if it's the lead text) is not a valid issue and suggested in the checklist:

These summary sentences are usually short and are not part of the article's text. It is advisable but not required to represent them as subtitle elements. "
