I don't think that we should remove any essential content from page, even if it is duplicated in the source (or if it can not be displayed in the slideshow).

As far as I know a content is essential if it's necessary for the understanding of the article. The media elements I removed from the slideshow are also present in the text below, so they add nothing to the article.

I remove them only when they are not supported in the IV slideshow and they are render one after the other in the body of the Instant View. I think that seeing duplicated content can ruin user experience in some cases. Please read the complete explanation here:
