I think this should be handled properly. They are very frequently missing the image there. Also it's "About author" block, which can be safely removed, since it's rudimentary.

In my template I left it, because it seems that they return generic author name in those, but still you can should cover those cases somehow. Here are few other, very recent articles that do have the same box:
