- I considered both options, and after testing it in mobile Telegram clients I concluded that figcaptions are better. No formatting is lost, it just makes image descriptions look different.
Also, it helps the reader to scroll from one image to another without loosing context, which might happen if a description takes up space close to full height of the viewing area and looks like a regular text.

In this section could be a lot of text. On source page it looks like ordinary paragraph which is good for readability. I think both is ok, but gallery here is main media and so paragraphs is better
