- I did exactly the same as on the original page. I don't ignore links, all links are saved. Setting the link as an image is dangerous since we cannot know what image the link is leading to. Images available by a link are different from those in the article.

- The better resolution must be obtained from <a> in this case and link to the same image must be removed

.attachment-thumbnail - cropped copy of image and here its size is only 450.
But it lies inside the <a> to the full version of the image.
Image address often contains sss=1 and other attributes on this site (can be seen on the rest of the article images).
This is the root of the problem, I think.
Even if you do not want to use the full version, you should ignore the link to it anyway.
But I think that in the gallery it is better to use the full version, instead of thumbnail.
