As per manual <blockquote> should not have images.

- First of all — nope, there is no information in the checklist on what blockquotes should contain.
Secondly, the ability to nest more elements in the RichText than before is one of the reasons behind the IV engine update 2.0.

Here you can clearly see that Articles can have Blockquotes, and Blockquotes can have RichText and QuoteCaption. RichText, among other things, can hold Icons — a NEW type, small images inside the text. I'm simply using the available tools to make template look as good and as close to the original page as possible.
While there's no rule that you must include the photo inside blockquotes, losing it altogether is a valid issue. An issue that can be demonstrated in your template.
