- Your template also does not append figcaptions into figures, because the same caption in your template is not a figcaption, but it is paragraph. The reason why this caption is not recognized, because it is the case of exception and it is impossible to find all the different class names and whether captions inside <em>, <p>, <strong>, <p>/<p>, etc. Also if you have looked at the map of the site, it is being run from 2015 and there more than 3000 pages with 10 article on each.
Also my template does not remove captions, it is anyway preserved.

They placed in tag with class "img-article-description", so they are figcaptions for sure
