in every article main images have several dimension formats, "original", "big", "small", you could have put a checking for "big" and "original" dimension formats from the image src path:

First, I believe that there is no need to use "big" images, when in the "/big/" tab there are often smaller and cropped images:

Second, there is no way to check which resolution was deleted on server, so "big" images can be deleted too, it's not my fault
