- I do not think this is required. If only because it is not identifiable. <span> has no classes, attributes, etc. Styles are set online.
You can convert all <span style = ”background-color: ..”> to <mark>, but besides the background-color, the element can have any combination of other styles, have a different look, and be used for other purposes. The site also uses <span style = ”background-color: transparent> (https://kirov-portal.ru/afisha/recomend/kuda-skhodit-v-kirove-afisha-28-31-marta-15572/). Use the specific color rgb(249,238,88)? And if the site editor decides to change the shade, or set the color in hex format?
My template italicizes all <span> having arbitrary online styles. Just to visually separate it from the surrounding text.
Also, I did not see anywhere in the checklist the requirement to keep the style exactly like on the source site.
