Yes, it's possible to modify "width" parameter, and it might even be safe in a sense that it unlikely to break, though it's generally not advisable.
But it's pointless here because:
1. Images are compressed by the IV engine, and there won't be a difference given that source image is big enough, and this one is big enough (bigger than the compression result).
2. We don't know the size of the original image, so we can easily end up stretching the image only to get it compressed again by the IV engine, which can result in degraded quality.
