Significantly better image quality is available. Your template uses a 630x353 resolution, while it's possible to use an image with twice the resolution (compare with my template).

Taking an image from meta tags where it has a different name it's not a reliable way, that's for sure. This image is never shown to a regular user. Since that happen only to a cover (which has decent quality) I'd prefer not to take the risk of url manipulation.
