Your template, removes the <strong> tag and adds a line break, this is not an isolated case, on this site, images are inserted in <strong> quite often.

Two broken-layout cases from 2017. It's not "quite often".
<img> in <strong> is not an example of correct layout, and I don't know how deep can be this image in <strong>, <h#>, <em> and other tags to just @before_el it.
