You've said that the image is tagged as "contentimage" but if you take it further and look at the css attributes, its just used for positioning the element correctly and has nothing todo with the image being so important that it may not be taken out of context.

After all Covers are obligatory but they say "We recommend setting a cover If there's a suitable image directly below the title/subtitle." which is clearly the case here.

Covers are obligatory only in the cases mentionned in 6.2.2, which are when the image is marked in the source as a cover image (it is not in this case), or if the image is above the title or subtitle on the original (it is not).
In this case it is optional.
