your argument about special class is invalid. nothing special. it's just a bunch of styling classes. font weight, font size, line height etc. bold is suitable here as it's clearer. on original site i see this text as bold.
talking about font size, you will realize, even the entire article's text is also fz-18 which is just the same as the header set by site owner.
why bold is suitable? this site use fw-7 to identify as bold. if the text in the article contain fw-7 , at least it doesn't convert to subheader. and bold is more clearer as you can see.
