Nope, on THIS site removing "-NNNxNNN" from the path is DANGEROUS, and here's why:

You often get images looking differently than the original.

For example:
On this image: — you see a man.
If you remove "-300x300", a women would get into frame:

Other example: — only a photo and a name are shown. — extra data below & above is shown.

So, in your template, you added your own content by showing an image other than in the original. On this site, originals without "-NNNxNNN" are raw material that shouldn't get into pages.

This is true. Removing the resolution can lead to bad issues. The website reader won't ever see another image as well, so why bother using a higher res one, which is not even accessible from the website itself.
