About credit:
The credit is also a part of the figcaption, and the user just wants to open the gallery and taps there, doesn't care if he's tapping on the description or the credit. It's also more connected this way, if only the description would be the link, the source would appear detached.

In the original article the image is used as the link, not caption. At least the credits should not be inside the <a> tag.
