- I don't agree with you. This is the case with images only, you can remove links from images without interrupt other attachments.
Any website can have images linked to pdf, mp3, mp4, isn't it?
If you here see any images linked to pdf, mp4 or mp3 you shouldn't remove them.
But in this case image must be removed, that's rules.
If you know WordPress, you know that all images have a separate page. Developers choose how to display them.

Normally I won't remove those links, especially the first one which links to other pages' attachment.
Sites built with Wordpress have many attachment types, jpg, pdf, mp4, mp3, etc., and they all share same pattern `canonical/permalink/attachment-id-or-name`. Before we click the link, we don't really know if it is a jpg, or pdf, or something else.
But of course it's not easy to find a counter case ;)
