- If I transform the cite into figcaption, when I have an image with figcaption with text and a cite with text the two will have to be figcaption?
This is totally unexpected. I do not control if the article author's writes a cite as caption or vice versa.

They use it as caption text all the time in every slideshow. You can clearly see this is NOT an author but the description of the photo.
