1. IV 1.0 logic can't be applied to this contest, because IV 2.0 parser works differently. The 1.0 version generates IV ignoring layout mistakes like <img> inside <figcaption> (actually even makes things worse). The 2.0 version doesn't. Like in this case. The template author didn't mark the case unsupported intentionally - the parser did. What is required of template author is to support as many pages as possible. You don't have to support all "all the variations of this bug" - in case of failure 2.0 won't allow a page to be generated anyway. But you have to support well-known variations. Like this in question
2. The template author said "Your 10 lines code is bad" and provided an example from 2017. I would like to see examples from more recent articles (2018-2019), where the Template #98's workaround doesn't work correctly. Kindly provide them in as appeal.
