- This is a not higher resolution, it is image stretching with decreasing quality. Look carefully, your image is larger, but much worse in definition. Those. in fact, the images are the same, just in your case it is stretched. If I scale to your size, they will be exactly the same. But in the case of the cover image it is much better to use my version, because it looks better.

The website engine stretches all original images uploaded by website admins to fit specific resolution (1150 by widest side), even if the original image is smaller than requested. When you click the image on the website, original image file is displayed.
In this case original image file has priority over the stretched higher resolution image, because it cannot be higher quality than the original file.
