- I have checked multiple hundreds of articles and have implemented a bit more complex set of rules by which I pick the author. I have not found an article where wrong information is passed into the author property.
Moreover, this is safe, because they stopped doing this in newer articles.
It wouldn't be OK to just discard "ROG" or other info that appears in the first "written by" tag because it's still relevant (I can't predict what they'll write there, be it ROG or something else), but a real author's name should be there as well, when it's available.
