- 1. It's the matter of the source. The source wants the lead to be bigger than regular text—who are we to decide?
2. You can notice that on the linked page, my template shows real headers in bigger font than the lead (as it is in the source). In fact, I DO switch <h2> and <h3> (convert <h2> to <h3> and the other way around) so that the lead doesn't shade real headers, but if no <h2>'s are present, IV automatically reverts that change (i.e., IV shows <h3> in smaller font only if <h2> is present somewhere on the page). I don't think it's as critical to be dealt with.

The source uses <h2> tags exclusively the lead paragraphs. <h3> are used for real subheaders. See https://theprideoflondon.com/2019/01/22/maurizio-sarris-blueprint-save-chelsea-maurizio-sarri/ for example.
Also please note that on linked page first paragraph is formatted as subheader and here as header, which is inconsistent.
