Usually it's OK to omit such information, but not in the "Top Ten (or insert number here) List" articles. We need to present correct numbers in the titles/headers.

Also, we need to support anchors, because the URLs to these lists look like:
https://www.topgear.com/car-news/list/ten-quickest-estate-cars-you-can-buy-today#5
and then it guides you to the fifth title.
