The Instant View Editor uses a three-column layout, so you really want to use it on a desktop screen that's wide enough. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The checklist doesn't mention anything about formatting the date/author, as long as they are visible.
Accepted by admin
If author name is unknown, then author should not be displayed.

The date property should supported as well.
