no figcaption for photo

It's formated as typical paragraph (<p> containg <em>), without any specific attributes. Not a figcaption. And assuming that each p/em after picture is figcaption isn't safe enough in my opinion. Also notice that it is post in personal blog — different authors may use different formating.

p/strong that looks like a proper figcaption, yeah? Same as on this page, except for <strong> instead of <em> Following your logic you have to add additional condition to your template, so it's displayed as figcaption.
