Whilst it would be okay to use that advertorial image as a cover, there is actually no cover on the original page. So it's not essential to use a cover here.

If the template creator wishes to use a different image, that's okay and there is no issue here. If you can provide the link to a page where using the first image like this breaks the article's flow or makes the reading experience worse, then that is a valid issue.
