- Actually I would say this could be edge cases, even there're two of it.
When you set the first paragraph as description, you're always taking risk here.
1. you detect string-length to avoid edge cases like this, then you might get a paragraph deep inside the body as description
2. you don't detect string-length, yes, you have cases like this.
Then why not og:description? Because there're cases showing og:description is not always suitable on this site.

Yes, it's always tricky to create a good preview text, but there shouldn't be major issues with taking (or merging) the second paragraph into the preview description.
