Again, it is not "ad class", it has no class / id / etc. We can't not know what this element was meant to contain, so why do you believe it's an advertisement? If you check html-code of <ad>, you will see that its content is essential as it contains the last paragraph of the article.
Also this article is from 2016, modern articles don't have such problems and even for old articles it seems like a one-off case. Thus I think this issue is not critical.
