You can not convert such a large image in the <pic>. The <pic> tag should only be used for icons. There is another working way to support this page, you can see my template.

Your solution brakes blockquote's structure. Without caption, it is unclear what does this image belong to.

Because it's not possible to open <pic> as a regular image. You can't zoom it, you can't share it.
