- Indeed, it's not a safe way to convert any <span> after <img> inside <p> to <figcaption>:
<p>
<img src="..." />
<span style="font-size:12px;">text</span>
</p>
Probably you have new bugs in your template just because you did it for this old article.
My template displays all new articles captions nicely but it seems you have some problem inside them. Compare caption of second image in this page:
