This is either hardcoded or some fix that could break template next year. Wes It's not hardcoded, the parser assumes the year as the current when there's none, in articles older than 1 day the year is added. Declined by admin

It must be obtained by any means possible, including meta tags, etc. The year of the article is at the url Shameem Date is not found even in meta tag. My template handles when date (with year) is mentioned in article. Just intentionally ignores otherwise as it is the safest method.
