Author name Author name is required only if it is presented in the source article in a clear way (at the top of the page, at the very end of the text, etc.), especially if there's a name of an actual person. ☄️ Author name is presented under the article in a dedicated block. Suggested text is an ordinary article's paragraph with no identification as an "author name" at all. What if the author starts the article with "By today morning..."? Declined by admin It seems that Bashir is being interviewed by Tony.

Parsing ordinary article text is kinda unreliable. Accepted by admin What the user sees when viewing the original article in an ordinary browser has priority over invisible meta-information. There is no reliable way to extract the name of the author out of the first paragraph, because it's not done on the site in an consistent way.

Because of incorrect parsing part of text is determined like an author ("late afternoon" from deep paragraph instead of publisher username "adekunle" or " Is’haq Modibbo Kawu"). It looks like all the problems with this domain started when our admin accepted this issue by mistake: https://instantview.telegram.org/contest/vanguardngr.com/template2/issue2/ It appears that template #2 would have been a more reliable solution than attempting to extract data without any defining markup. We will reflect this in the next version of the checklist to prevent similar situations in future contests. Thanks again.
Template #9 ☄️	Issue #1 Jul 31, 2017	admin Irrelevant text in the author field. If it isn't possible to reliably identify author names in the article body, it is better not to extract them. ☄️ I agree. And recently issues regarding author names not being extracted from publication text indeed were declined more often. However, at the time when I was creating this template, admins were accepting such issues. So I was convinced that I have to extract author names, or the template would be rejected. This seemed to work reliably. In this case it's clearly didn't. My only hope is it's not a widespread issue :) Declined by admin Indeed, the series of issues that ultimately led to the current problem started here: https://instantview.telegram.org/contest/vanguardngr.com/template2/issue2/, when Nikita Balakirev incorrectly claimed that template #2 was displaying an invisible 'author' and our admin accepted that issue by mistake. Sorry! In fact, template #2 was utilizing the username of the author that was visible at the bottom of the page along with a link to their other posts – which should have been considered acceptable. Instead, the mistakenly accepted issue led everyone on a wild goose chase and left us with templates that sometimes extract wrong info instead of the author. We will update the checklist with info regarding extracting data without clear markup to prevent this from happening in future contests. We would have restored template #2, but will instead leave #9 in its place. We kindly ask you to roll back the change after the results are announced and either use the username again or omit the author altogether.
