If site developer made a mistake in this particular case, it's not my problem. I shouldn't substitute the content of meta tags, if in most cases it's correct. Moreover, if I do, it may have unforeseen side effects, and I can replace his good image with my bad (or worse) one. Declined by admin It seems to be a problem of the source.

What if some ordinary text goes in italics? (I haven't come across an actual example, but this is close: http://ua.interfax.com.ua/news/press-release/334178.html.) You will make it caption, though it isn't. It's better to leave it as it is. Also, this format is not widespread with this site (if at all used anywhere besides this page). Actually, if you put "site:interfax.com.ua/news/press-release" in Google Images and follow the links, you won't get pages with image captions for the first 30-50 results (as far as I checked).
