- It is better to leave things as they are.
1. The manual states that <pic> should be used for icons. In fact the accepted issues you reported refer to icons surrounded by text.
2. Images are transformed into block elements by @simplify, instead <pic> are treated as richtext. It is risky to reproduce this behavior manually because it can lead to unpredictable results (single line of text on the side of the image, NESTED_ELEMENT errors, etc.)
3. Unfortunately this image is not identifiable as infographic, so it will not be displayed correctly in the IV anyway. At least there are only few of them.
