- As you can see from your links your template doesn't provide any visible quality increase, you're just using uncropped and stretched version. You're manually changing image's source (replacing end of all image sources with "nocrop.w1920.h1080") which isn't reliable and should not be done. Girl in black to the right is never visible on photo in original article.
If you compare resolution in the Original and Preview sections of editor and check source code, you'll see that my template actually uses high res image - best available quality from srcset.
And I'm doing it for all images in articles on this site. If you think this is not true, please provide corresponding links.

High Resolution Image should be used.

And Hi Res images/pictures should be used for whole site sections (not only for this page cover). Check it please.
