Template #1 Issue #1

cover is missing
Accepted by admin
Image doesn't need to be a cover, but removing the image completely is indeed an issue. All media (with preserved captions) needs to be displayed in IV.

IV not generated for target page
Declined by admin
It is a service page of the website, it is acceptable not to generate IV for it.

These type of pages shouldnt have cover image
Behnam Rajabifard
this image is cover on the source website ,and it optional to use this image as cover . this graphic pages must have cover in my optinon.
Accepted by admin
It might have cover, but it is extremely weird to have two identical images in the IV when the original only has 1.
Template #5 Issue #1
Jun 10, 2017 at 5:45 AM
Content images are completely missing. These are loaded dynamically by the webpage, thus one must view the original page (not preview) to see the missing images.

These images can be represented in IV with a bit of hacking, if the original lazy loading algorithm of the webpage is emulated.

Slideshow missing, yes original iframe shows its not a slideshow but if you open site in your browser tab, you see its slideshow. This is like a game and should be slideshow because its not a step-by-step recipie or something like that.

Template #7 Issue #1

In my defense to the previously accepted issue (see https://instantview.telegram.org/contest/theonion.com/template6/issue1/ ), I strongly believe these slideshows should not really be represented as slideshows in IV.

a) In this case, the caption is very large. The first caption has 48 words, which are hard to fit on the slide's caption section of only about 3 lines. The text is also a bit harder to read on some images because of the reduced contrast. None of these problems exist in a non-slideshow version.

b) Non-slideshows reduce the need for horizontal swiping. The scrolling is more natural when the pictures are disposed vertically, especially considering IV even has a scroll progress indicator.

Please note an admin's response advising avoiding slideshows: https://instantview.telegram.org/contest/go4it.ro/template3/issue1/ . I believe the context is quite similar here.

Please refer to Checklist ยง6.4: "Slideshows must not be used: If the article uses images/videos/GIFs with captions as the main medium,

Yes, it is correct to interpret this slideshow as images following one another. An earlier issue that stated otherwise was accepted as the result of an error. We apologize.

wassup dude.

1.this page should be slideshow check this issue https://instantview.telegram.org/contest/theonion.com/template6/issue1/

2.But in answer to your issue https://instantview.telegram.org/contest/theonion.com/template7/issue1/

Im not sure but looks like its not valid issue because original page show it as slideshow. BUT its main content, and as you accent the text is too big and corrupt images when its slideshow.

3. my template โ„–9 handles different original slideshows into several photos or slideshows.

several photos:

P.S i hope admin catch this issue. Please expand down area for writing issue text. Its goes hard when issue bigger that ~5 strings, but ofc i can writ
Elian Doran
I understand your rationale for selectively transforming into slideshows, but I highly think that it is unnecessary.

Let us think for a moment... would you rather swipe left-right across 72 images or simply glance at them whilst scrolling vertically? Scrolling is more intuitive, more efficient and I've got reasons to believe it's also better implemented than the slideshow mechanism, especially considering the high number of photos.

Also, I'm not even sure if the slideshow was designed to present so many photos, the dots used to represent the number of images goes way off and does not indicate anything anymore if the user scrolls after about 10-15 photos.

I'm also not sure why the admin accepted the previous issue (https://instantview.telegram.org/contest/theonion.com/template6/issue1/), and no further explanation was offered.

Also, I do not think that you need to tailor two different representations just because there's this gallery that should look like a slideshow.

Yes, the previous issue on Template #6 was accepted as the result of an error. We apologize. Single-slideshow articles must not use slide-shows in IV.

answer to
heello. All we can is wait for admin decision, and you say that admin gave no explanation i think its because the issue gave enough explanation, so admin can just accept or decline. But what i think is that by compare rules and original article best choice is make this page's slideshow theonion.com/slideshow/74-normal-photos-and-2-kinda-weird-ones-32244 and this page list of photos theonion.com/slideshow/the-greatest-moments-in-slideshow-history-36273
P.S I think we say enough, so lets just wait for admin, because this competition topics can never done, better is to find significant mistakes and flaws and point them
Elian Doran
Hello, dear competitor.

Firstly, I do not judge the admin's decision to not respond to the issue, only accept it. It is up to them, although it was a quite disconcerting.

I have two requests to make:

a) Please find some more pages that require the template to treat it as a slideshow, not as images after images. If these game-like articles are too few, a dedicated representation of them would be over-engineering.

b) Are you sure that your algorithm that chooses whether to display a slideshow or a display images vertically is flawless? Did you cover all the cases? What if there still is a case in which the caption will yet overflow because the algorithm failed? I hope not, but I will have to test.

This is a clever way of interpreting infographic timelines by adding an emoji. For now, we see this is acceptable, although we will consider issues that demonstrate how this could lead to problems.

The graphic is cropped, as if made to fit a cover image. A better quality, uncropped version can be obtained.

Please note a small details regarding this type of infographics: there is a subtle separator between ideas. This is due to the fact that the paragraphs have no continuation of their own and can be read in any order.

Please considering adding a <hr> to better reflect the original format.
Sunny Lane ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ
Im not sure about it, paragraphs is separated by new line, will fix this if issue accepted.

Your lazy loading algorithm forgot to remove the "back-up photo" (in case the browser has JavaScript disabled), in some cases it might result in duplicate photos.

Reading-progress bar error
Elian Doran
OP is right. The start and stop percentages of the reading bar are incorrect. The problem does not seem to reflect on iOS, but on Android it is visible.

Screenshot of what would be 0%, progress indicator indicates about 20%: http://i.imgur.com/SXzDnrL.png

Screenshot of what would be 100%, but progress indicator indicates about 80%: http://i.imgur.com/MkDcTEt.png

This is most likely due to the fact that content is only about one screen and a quarter in height on the phone used for testing, whereas on larger articles, the error is less pronounced.

"Gemini | May 21..." (bold text) should be either bold or preferably, heading. There's no delimiter between the title & the text.
It's the site issue actually: they handle horoscopes as blockquotes (class="quotable"). We can't display it differently, because it will affect the real quotes, like these:

But I'm going to correct their appearance, thanks.
