Missing <figcaption>. The caption is important here because it provides background information to that specific Instagram post. According to Checklist §6.5: "Any captions present in the source article must be preserved." (https://instantview.telegram.org/checklist#6-5-captions)

Checklist §4: "Anything that is not essential to the article in question should be removed from the Instant View page. [...] Social media links and buttons removed, including “Share” and “Like” links and buttons" (https://instantview.telegram.org/checklist#4-content-to-be-removed). With a small filter, it's quite simple to remove the said paragraph.

We're talking semantics here, but a <blockquote> is inappropriate here. The side quote is actually a pullquote, which is represented in IV as <aside>. The difference between the two is that <blockquote> represents a citation of sorts, as in an interview, whereas a pullquote highlights text from a paragraph that is to come. Note how the expression quoted ("Why can’t you just go and watch Jeremy Kyle?' a prison officer once quipped.") can be found at the end of the highlighted paragraph. Please refer to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pull_quote and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Block_quotation for more information.

There is pretty essential intercative widgets that couldn't be displayed in IV. According to 6.8 this page shouldn't have IV.
|
Template #18 |
Issue #1
Jun 12, 2017
|
Page should not render because it is a highly-updated page. Checklist §2.1: "IV pages are cached on our servers. The more time passed since an article was published, the less frequently the cached IV page will be updated. Any pages that update content in real time would subsequently display outdated IV pages to users — which is unacceptable." (https://instantview.telegram.org/checklist#2-1-pages-with-dynamic-content) These kind of pages, "live" articles are updated many times in a day, for the few days that they are active. This kind of behavior makes them completely unsuitable for IV as the user would not get updated information.

Template #20 |
Issue #2
Jun 13, 2017
|
This article contains an unsupported element, that is, an embedded Tumblr post. This is very important as the Tumblr post provides context for the article, being just as important as Facebook and Instagram embeds. The guidelines clearly state that templates only partially rendering critical information are frowned upon.

The video works just fine but the caption contains a link to the video page. There is no need for it to point back to the video, as long as the video is displayed above. Also, whole-text links as captions seem counter-intuitive to a potential user.

The cover video caption contains a link. Despite this being the case with the original page, these are the reasons I believe the link should be removed: a) The link redirects to the video. The video is supported in IV, but provides the exact same information, except for an additional navigation step. There is no benefit in navigating to the dedicated video page, in desktop situations, that might have not been the case. b) The link can be distracting to the user, because it does not inform the user where the link goes. Also, being in the top side of the page, there is also the possibility of accidentally tapping a redundant link.

Source is added as author. Even if it wasn't the source, the extra "Source:" should not be included. In response to author's comment in < https://instantview.telegram.org/contest/theguardian.com/template27/issue2/ >, just because something is displayed in a certain manner on the original website, that does not have to mean that it should be included verbatim in template. IV is all about semantics, whereas a website is free to do anything it wants with its content. In this case the source was displayed in the By Line for the programmer's convenience.

Naser: The university sector has been growing for decades, but now that growth is going into reverse. The number of undergraduates applying to universities has fallen by 4% this year. Although close to 50% of the population goes through higher education, only about 20% of jobs require an undergraduate degree. One US study found that 46% of students showed no improvement in their cognitive skills during their time at university. In some courses, like business administration, students’ capacity to think got worse for the first few years. And after they graduated, many struggled to find full-time work while being loaded down with debt. Nearly a quarter of graduates were living with their parents or relatives. One US study found that between 1975 and 2008, the number of faculty had grown about 10% while the number of administrators had grown 221%. In the UK, two thirds of universities now have more administrators than they do faculty staff. One higher education policy expert has predicted the birth of the “all-administrative university”. All the while, faculty are under pressure to show they are producing world-class research, outstanding teaching and are having an impact on wider society. No wonder some faculty complain that they are “drowning in shit”. But empty administration also comes at a significant cost. It is expensive, it is disheartening, and often it diverts universities from their core tasks. Instead of educating students, doing research and contributing to broader society, universities end up developing policies, ticking boxes and trying to climb up rankings. This includes everything from fanciful strategy development exercises, managerial vanity projects like opening campuses in exotic locations and overly elaborate leadership retreats.Staff need to be given space to question and even veto any new administrative initiatives. When any new initiative is proposed, faculty need to ask: “Is there any evidence this works? What is the logic behind it? And is it meaningful to staff and students?” Answering these three simple questions is likely to cut back empty administration substantially. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/aug/21/universities-broke-cut-pointless-admin-teaching?CMP=share_btn_fb
